Quick Feb 2026 Update

Well, it’s been a long time since i posted. I havnt really felt like putting anything up here. 🙂 But the past couple months i’ve been going through and updating the look of a bunch of sites see here and and here. When I finally got around to updating the theme on this blog, I realised just how long it’s been since i wrote anything. Which is not such a bad thing, I’m pretty sure no one even reads this. haha. I pretty much just use the blog to save some ideas and document some things ive struggled with, to re-reference them if i need them.

Here’s something midly interesting I encoutered when updating the blog. Since the last time I posted Hugo has undergone some pretty substanstial changes, which required me to actually look at how I had everything setup. It was far too complicated as the theme I origianly used is extrremely out of date and now has many unneeded templat files. I managed to get rid of pretty much everything apart for a home.html list.html and single.html. Super slim! I am still using all the original partial files from the original forked theme and a few custom shortcode templates for the images i post. But the new Hugo structure seems way simpler and easier to seup now.

It was also kinda fun playing round with base64 svg files in the header for the post pages. Those blocky lines up top in this page ↑. Oh yeah, I also added a small tag cloud to the home page, and also to the topic pages. That was pretty fun and easy.

It’s been super cool using Claude, and ChatGPT as instant experts too. Pretty epic not having to trawl through StackOverflow looking for solutions to problems i come up against when coding. They are currently great tools, and make me much more productive. I dont so much use them to Vibe code, but more for getting quick answers when i get stuck on a problem.

Well, the winter seems to have finally broken here in Berlin too, which is seems to be motivating me to do things out of the regular sleep-train-eat-work cycle. Maybe ill become more regular with this… or not. ha. And this is right about where my inspiration to write for today ends. 🦖✌️
